Making a Dress Code Less “Blah”

Dress Codes

Lately, I was having a conversation with some women about how one could make a dress code a little more personal. For example, we were talking about an event we had to attend that required us to wear black or navy dresses or suits, “stockings” (yes, that’s what it said.) and matching shoes. Pretty specific and kind of boring, right? Well, it didn’t specify what accessories could be worn, so that’s where the fun could be had.

A few ideas the group of us came up with were adding a bright-colored belt, a necklace or earrings. We also thought a nice bracelet or some bangles could add some color and personality. Since the dress code said the shoes needed to match, there wasn’t a ton of room to play with, but it did allow one to wear sandals, wedges or patent leather. Of course, the ideas suggested or in the picture above shouldn’t be worn all together, but one or two might make a dress code a bit more fantastic.
