Black Friday Steals

Hey!

Did you find any Black Friday steals? I found these pumps on sale on the Nine West website for $39.99. They were regular price $89.99. I’ve been looking for a pair of glitter shoes, but I haven’t wanted to pay much, so these fit the bill. Nine West is having some awesome sales today.

I also checked out the Tulle website and found a super inexpensive dress. :) It was $18.00. Yea. AWESOME. www.tulle4us.com

Bauble Bar has some great deals going too. I found a couple necklaces there that I have been stalking fairly regularly. I wait for Black Friday, and then pounce on deals because I don’t like to pay full price if I don’t have to. You can get up to 35% off the jewelry on Bauble Bar right now, so you may want to check that out.

I was kind of casually looking for a New Year’s Eve dress, but I haven’t found anything I just had to have. The search continues….

Blog Fodder

It has been a long time, since I’ve updated the blog. I’ve been working a lot…playing too. The blog fell away. For some reason, I thought I’d update it today, and today I thought would tell you just a little about what I do during the day.

Sometimes, my work involves talking to people about the end of life. You would think this would help me put everything in my life in perspective. The every day mini dramas shouldn’t see like such a big deal, but I am just like everyone else. I get annoyed by traffic. I freak out when I my alarm doesn’t go off. I worry about finances. I’m often reminded how trivial these worries are, but they creep back into the forefront of my thoughts. At Thanksgiving, I was reminded both by the people I work with, family and friends what is really important to me: family, friends, faith, health, and vocation.

I hope you have plenty to be thankful for this Holiday Season! :)

Summer Nights

Summer Nights

Has it been unusually hot in your neck of the woods?

About a week ago, it was outrageously hot where I live, and I could hardly stand to go outside and that weather is back again today. When the weather is like that, I am a big fan of simple, light, and classic clothes and jewels. I love to wear open sandals and wedges, light skirts and shorts and interchangeable layers on top. Above I put together two fairly typical casual outfits for me.

I’m a big fan of tank tops and skirts in the summer. I wore mostly skirts and dresses during the hot weather last week. At night, I like to bring/throw on a light open cardigan like the one above from Wallis or a cardigan from J.Crew or J.Crew Factory.

Here are the items above:

Outfit 1:

Blue Ruffle Tank, $32.99

Rhodium Y Necklace, $38.99

Chino Shorts, $34.50

Wedge Sandals, $89

Outfit 2:

White Tank, $18

Color Block Skirt, $64

Gold Bracelet, $78

Wedge Sandal, $80.10

White Cardigan, $40

Outdoor Goal Update:

I’ve been doing well on getting outside. I’m 8/11. Like I said above, it’s been really hot, and we’ve had a 1 or 2 days where there was some hard rain and thunderstorms that prevented me from getting outside. Overall, I’m not doing to bad. Most days, I do well over 20 minutes. In fact, I think there has only been 1 or 2 days when I’ve only done 20 minutes. :)

VS Sale + Body Image

Have you guys checked out the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale? It started in store today. I went to the online site to check out my favorites as well as some of the swimsuit sale items. There’s a 20% off sale through 6/14 on Swim Clearance items if you are interested. Use the code 20SPLASH.

My friend has been after me to get a two-piece swimsuit for the first time ever during the sale. I’ve never worn one because I’ve thought my body wasn’t “suited” for them (Hehe. Pun intended), but she says I need to get over those body image issues and enjoy myself. I tend to agree, although sometimes things are easier said then done, right? Well, I took the first step today and bought a suit. :)

High Low Dresses

High Low Dresses

When I was traveling about a week ago, I saw a woman at the Minneapolis airport wearing a bright pink high-low dress. It caused me to have a major dress crush. I wanted to ask the woman where she got her dress because it looked so lovely as she dashed through the airport concourse, but I didn’t think she would appreciate me inconveniencing her. I’ve been dreaming about, googling, and searching for high-low dresses ever since. What I’ve found is, high-low dresses are made in many different prints and colors. I’ve found them in all sizes and lengths and for all occasions. There seems to be something for most, if not all. Yet, I still haven’t found MY high-low dress. :( I’ll just have to keep searching.

In the image above, I chose mostly casual, summer, sleeveless styles because where I live summer is short, so these types of dresses are like an indulgent treat. That said, you don’t have to pay a lot to get a high-low dress or skirt. Yippee! :) If you find yourself still looking, I found more solid color and printed dresses for $50 dollars or less at Piperlime and Forever 21 both on sale and at regular price, so you might try these retailers as well. Here’s the info on the dresses above:

Row 1 from left to right:

1. Black and White Stripes, $158

2. Green Halter Top, $17.80

3. Thin Black and White Stripes,$18

4. Colorblock Maxi Dress, $168

5. Silk Chiffon Tiered Dress, $498

6. Ombre Maxi Dress, $194

Row 2 from left to right:

1. Pleated Halter Dress, $119.25

2. Tribal Print Dress, $18

3. Colorblock Halter Dress, $158

Goal Update:

I was active outside for more than 20 minutes today, so 1 day down, 20 to go. Well, actually I’m only doing 5 days a week, but you know what I mean. :) How about you? Did you spend some time doing something that makes you happy today?

Minnetonka Moccasins + Wenck Brothers Film!

Minnetonka Takes Manhattan by The Wenck Brothers

My creative cousins, Aaron + Nick Wenck aka The Wenck Brothers, shot a film recently for Minnetonka Moccasins. The film features Minnetonka’s new styles. You can also hear a great Minnesota band, Parlour Suite on the short film. If you like the Band, hop over here and get a download of the song! I did. :)

Check out Minnetonka Moccasins here. My cousins and I (and the rest of my family) have been wearing Minnetonka “Moccs” (that’s what we call them) ever since I can remember. I had a pair of lavender Minnetonka Moccs with tiny jewels that I was obsessed with as a little kid. Take my word for it. They were fabulous. ;)

Semi-Annual Sale + A Goal

Semi-Annual Sale

Obviously, the image above is showing some awesome and comfy workout/lounge wear from Victoria’s Secret Pink. As you probably already know, it’s semi-annual sale time online, and from what I hear the in-store sale will start next Tuesday, 6/12. Although, I’ve heard that some stores put things out early.

Here’s what you see above:

Yoga Pants

Yoga Crops

Essential V-Neck Tee

Printed V-Neck Tee

Now, on to the Goals:

I picked all workout wear because I’m trying to inspire myself to start spending time outside consistently. My goal is to devote at least 20 minutes 5 days a week to walking, running, biking, etc. I decided to start with something small and achievable. I hear 21 days makes a habit, so I’ll let you know how it’s going along the way. It’s all about being happy and healthy right? :)
